Biography

John was born in Chester County on 24 Jun 1833 to Thomas and Eliza Ann Muer (or Muir?) Ambler. John married Rebecca Jane Stroud, daughter of George Washington and Ann Dunn Stroud, on 29 Oct 1857.

When John was fourteen, he served as a page in the United States Senate in Washington, D.C.. John also edited a newspaper with John Wanamaker in Philadelphia.

John died 22 Nov 1882 and is buried in the Mechanics' Cemetery in Philadelphia. His wife Rebecca is buried in Ivy Hill Cemetery.
