Michael Ambrose was born in or near the village of Rathcormack in County Cork, Ireland about 1801, and may be related to the Ambrose family that lived in Mondaniel townland not far from Rathcormack.

1. Michael Ambrose, Jr., born October 15, 1832 in Mondaniel townland, Rathcormack Civil Parish, Fermoy Poor Law Union, County Cork, Ireland.

Michael Ambrose is listed as an occupier of a small parcel of land for his home, office, garden and yard on Main Street as listed on Griffith's Primary Valuation of Ireland for Main Street, Village of Rathcormack Rathcormack Civil Parish, Barrymore Barony, County Cork, Ireland. He did not have enough land to be a farmer, so perhaps he was a tradesman.

Michael Ambrose, age 84, widower from Rathcormack, died in the Fermoy Workhouse in Fermoy Poor Law Union, Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland in 1885.

1. This Michael Ambrose might be the baptismal sponsor of Briggida Ryan, daughter of Joannis Ryan and Briggida Mills who was baptized in Rathcormack in 1814. The Ryan family is from "Mondonnell". However, Michael Ambrose would be only 13 years old at the time. That is however, old enough to be a confirmed Catholic Christian which should make him eligible to be a baptismal sponsor in the Roman Catholic Church.

1. The MIchael Ambrose in Griffith's Valutations might be a younger Michael Ambrose of Fermoy who passed away at age 50 in 1880, because he was born in 1832 and would only be about two years
