Biography

Henry George Andersen was born on March 17, 1895, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, when his mother, Kirsten Marie Nielsen , was 20. It is thought that he is not the biological son of Jens J Andersen (at the time of his birth his father was listed as single and living at home), although he was always claimed as a son by Jens. In the 1917 draft, he is described as tall, stout, with brown hair and eyes. The other sons of Jens and Marie had blond hair and blue eyes. [1]

In 1905, his family was living in the Hassan Valley. [2] By 1910, his family had moved to homestead near Kiowa, Colorado. [3] In 1920, he was still working on the family farm. [4]

He married Agnus Catherine McAlloon on June 16, 1926, in Golden, Colorado [5], and he raised her three children from her previous marriage. In 1930, they were living in Murtaugh, Idaho, where Henry was a farmer. [6] Colorado records show Henry and Agnes as divorcing in 1937 [7], although 1940 found them back in Kiowa where he owned his home and was farming and she is listed as his wife.. [8] In 1942, he registered for the World War II draft. [9]

He died in October 1966 in Kiowa, Colorado, at the age of 71 [10], and was buried in the Elizabeth Cemetery in Elbert County, Colorado. [11]
