Elizabeth Anderson was born in 1740 in Yarmouth Cumberland County Maine.

Elizabeth (19) married Richard I. Skolfield (22) (born on September 6, 1738 in Brunswick, York, Massachusetts Bay Colony; son of Thomas Skolfield Sr. and Mrs. Mary (Orr) Scofield) on September 13, 1760 in Brunswick, Cumberland. Their son was Richard Skolfield (1762–1784).

Elizabeth married William Hopkins (born in 1736 in Yarmouth, Cumberland, Massachusetts Bay).

Elizabeth died on March 5, 1813 in Trenton Hancock County Maine, USA, aged 72.[1]

Here is the story of the death of William and Elizabeth Hopkins - it was in the August 29, 1917 edition of the Ellsworth American.

“Capt. Pearl Leland of Trenton tells an interesting and thrilling story of Alley’s Island, lying between the mainland and Mt. Desert Island. Long ago years, he says, there was a store there where fishing vessels called to get supplies, at which rum was not the least important. People from the mainland also frequented the place, and one night a man came on horseback with his wife behind him on the same horse. The man imbibed rather freely and on his return to the mainland either misguided his horse or fell from the saddle, dragging his wife with him. The horse was found riderless the next morning before the stable door, and the search discovered the bodies of the two locked in each other’s arms on the bank, quite dead, from cold and exposure. The man had tried to cover his wife with the skirts of his swallowtail coat as they sank into the slumber which knows no awakening.”
