Biography

Sarah was born about 1760 in Hanover County, Virginia. Her parents were John Anderson and Mary Southard.

Her father was a Revolutionary War soldier proven by NSDAR with Ancestor # A002458

After the Revolution her family moved to Wilkes County, Georgia.

Sarah or Sally as she was also know was married to Lewis Cookson Davis in Hanover County, Virginia in 1783. She moved with her husband to Wilkes County, Georgia 4 years after the Revolutionary War.

Sarah had 8 children and died in Wilkes County, Georgia in 1797.

She is mentioned as a legatee for her children in the will of her father, John Anderson in WIlkes County, Georgia. She is listed as Sally Davis. Her husband is listed also on the will.


The will of John Anderson was devised on 11th of September, 1806 and proved by the 5th of November, 1810 in Wilkes County, Georgia. His legatees were:

Equal shares to the surviving children of my deceased daughter, Sally Davis. Same to the children of deceased daughter, Jean Heard.

Grandsons, Edward and John Anderson--sons of my son, John R. Anderson

Son, Thomas.
