Biography

Anna Mathilda Dorothea was born in Movänta, Hult parish, Småland, Sweden 18 December 1854. Her parents were Anders Petter Anderson and his wife Anna Johansdotter.^[1]

In the household record covering 1855-1861 she is entered as Anna Mathilda Dorothea with the name Axelina added above Dorothea. Then Dorothea has been underlined and Axelina crossed out.^[2] In the next household record, covering 1861-1870 she is Anna Mathilda Axelina, with Axelina crossed out and Dorothea entered above. The vicar may have been of the opinion that she should not go by a different name from what she had been christened with. In any case the family emigrated in 1869.^[3]

In America she evidently went by the name Lena, short for Axelina (also spelled Oxalena by some). Lena Anderson married Francis M. Wisdom 27 January 1878.^[4]

They had ten children.^[5]

Lena Wisdom died 5 March 1918. She is buried with her husband at Highland Cemetery, Ozark.^[6]
