DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
Is there no record of marriage for Janet Mebane and William Anderson? Janet Mebane is listed in her father's will as Janet Anderson and the daughter Margaret Jennet Anderson is also listed in grandfather's will.
I am a descendant of William Anderson and his first wife, Janet Mebane, through their daughter Margaret.
I haven’t found a public record for William and Janet’s marriage and I haven’t finished reviewing the new source below (that’s huge!). It’s possible a family record is in the below source for William and Janet?
It’s possible, if not likely, a public record doesn’t exist.
Also, if you see errors anything that needs correcting please do so!
Yes, I will be sure and correct any errors and of course site the sources. It looks like a couple of Alexander and Mary Mebane's children married into the Anderson family. Also, there is a possible daughter, Frances Mebane, and some sources point to her being the daughter of Alexander Mebane and Mary Tinnen. Frances Mebane is also an ancestor of mine, she married my ancestor John Graham, Sr.
I plan to contact the NC state archives because there appears to be some confusion regarding Alexander Mebane's will. I have found two slightly different versions.
More to come on the Anderson/Mebane/Thompson connection!!
Sounds reasonable, and perhaps likely. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to spend on my Anderson line to know much about them aside from generalities, so I have no idea the facts of this family. I hope to learn more about this branch of my family tree as time goes on.

Thanks!!
