I have no stake in this entry, but it is hard to see why the genealogical data about a person deceased more than 80 years should remain private. Web genealogy is a collaborative activity, and excessive privacy makes collaboration difficult. Your attention is appeciated

Hello Paul

I created this tree 9 years ago. was still fresh at genealogy back then. I literally have NO idea why any deceased person in this tree on Wikitree should be showing as "private". Only can conclude it was something unintentional. Likely in ERROR maybe coming from my tree on Ancestry?? Possibly a box was clicked private, wether by me or wether it was an as-is, upon importing data in from another's tree. Don't know. It was 2014 My family tree on Ancestry, which of course is bigger and better than this one here now, is wide open to the public viewing minus all the living. Did you find many more of my tree entries "private"? Your comment on excessive privacy seems unwarranted and as such, in my case, comes of as rude to me. You might in the future allow persons to be fallible. Just ask

I've always believed and promoted collaboration among all my Genealogy interested friends and strangers met online. At the top of every page here, it says: WikiTree where genealogists collaborate. Looking at my profile I have 12 thank yous snd over 1800 contributions .

You might have posed your comment a bit more diplomatically. Well since you have no stake in this person, I'll look into it but I'm not going to rush.

I'll also look into abandoning this tree here or releasing management, whatever is the 'nicest' way to leave, because I'm no longer interested in using this service or maintaining whatsoever. Also not much interest in further genealogical work these days. I have happily collaborated over the years here and merged several. But interests have now moved elsewhere. Enjoy and good luck with your research
