Biography

Profile is under review Research needed

A John and Margaret Anderson are listed in the immigration proof of George Anderson on May 22, 1740 in Orange County, Virginia as coming from "Ireland, to Philadelphia, and from thence into this Colony, at his own charges" [1]

The children of George Anderson were not born until November of 1740 so the John Anderson and Margaret Anderson named are likely his parents.

Death date for John Anderson is set based on his wife's sworn testimony in a case heard in the Court of Augusta County, Virginia on December 21, 1757 . It is more common for a male to issue testimony before the Courts than a female, based on this it is likely that John has died prior to this date. [2] Chalkley's Chronicles Rootsweb #85 Also, the will of Margaret Anderson's which was dated May 4, 1761 and proved March 20, 1764 in the Court of Augusta County, Virginia, very few married women left wills, so this leads me to believe that her husband had died prior to the making of the will. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Hi Jillaine,

I'm not exactly sure where this account originated. It was perhaps connected to gedcom files I inherited from my mother's work. I'm digging through those files now to see if I can "catch a lead". I suspect, because of the Trimble connection, that this could be one of the Anderson brothers. See Find-a-Grave https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/155281046/john-anderson#source I'll let you know if I find anything else.

Hi David, I'm working on dateless profiles. (See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:WikiTree_Friday_Date_Night) Anderson is such a common name. Do you have any estimates when this person lived? Thanks!
