The birthplace of Fredericksburgh seems unlikely since the land was surveyed in 1783 and granted in 1784 and her father's petition for a part of it claiming 5 children--"three of which are of age"-- in 1797. Who are these 5--"three of which were of age" in 1797? If true, the dates of the birth of the children may be in error, or the marriage or a first wife with children or step-children of a second wife may be counted. Is this John Anderson (Anderson 15083) different from John Anderson from New Jersey (Anderson -8127) who it is married Annatje in 1773 and had his first child, Nicholas, with her in 1778 and John in 1782 based on baptisms in New Jersey)? If so, only Nicolas would be of age in 1797. Also, John Anderson 15083 claims to fight with Gen Phillips (who was defeated at Saratoga in October 1777) and spending time "suffering greatly" in Nova Scotia. And also spent time in Montreal. Yet John Anderson 8127 seems to be in New Jersey-at least sometimes.

Using the marriage, death and baptism records of both Rev McDowall (Reformed) http://my.tbaytel.net/bmartin/mcdowall.htm and Rev Langhorn (Anglican) http://my.tbaytel.net/bmartin/langhorn.htm who served this area at the turn of the 19th century, there are 8 Andersons of the approximate same generation (marriageable age) in Fredericksburgh at the turn of the 19th century--Nicolas, John (at least one), Margaret, Susannah, Jane, William, Joshua, Joshua. Nicholas and at least one John may have been the children of John Anderson (of New Jersey...Anderson-8127) and Annatje Peterson (of New Jersey) or not but and the rest of the Peterson family ends up in Fredericksburgh. Are some the others nieces or nephews of Susannah's father?

Canadian Land Petition states "your petitioner was in the Royal Artillery service under command of General Phillips...fled to Nova Scotia where he suffered greatly...with a wife and five children three of which are now of age; moved to this province 2 years ago...Fredricksburgh 26/5/1797" Upper Canada Land Book C, 1797-1802 p.137 "praying for family lands and lands for himself as a military claimant. Recommended for 200 acres
