Hello Laurie I don't really have much knowledge when it comes to gedcoms. I would suggest contact Eowyn (Langholf-2 ) shes pretty much the gedcom expert on the site

Hi, I'd like to volunteer to contribute to this global family tree because it will be fun to help others with my verified information, and to gain knowledge from other's research. I agree with your mission to create an opportunity to link all participants in one large family tree and agree to adhere to the rules of the site. Thanks, Laurie

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.
