David was born 26 October 1806 in Down, County Down, Ireland.
David and Ann were married 30 Dec 1828 in Bellany, Madras, India. [1][2]
He immigrated to New Zealand aboard the ship Pilgrim in 1849. Prior to this he was with the Commissariat Department of the British army for 21 years.
At the time of his death he had 5 sons , Edward, David, John, and Allan residing in Wellington, and William in England, and four daughters, Mrs Ballance, Mrs Foreman, Mrs Finnimore and Mrs Griffiths.
