Mary V. Carlson, age 91, of Manistee passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, July 21, 2013 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
She was born in Bear Lake on January 4, 1922, the daughter of the late Emil and Julia (Johnson) Anderson. On January 8, 1944 she was united in marriage to Casimer F. Szymarek. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1972. On October 6, 1979 she married Gustav M. Carlson and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2002.
She was retired, having worked as a receptionist and optical assistant for Dr. Bishop’s optometry practice. She was a member of the Manistee United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald & Martha Szymarek of Kinde; her daughters and son-in-law, Julie Quinones of Anchorage, Alaska and Patti & Jerry Burchard of Manistee; by 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, a very dear friend, Nora Hund and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Mary was also preceded in death by brothers, Clifton & Dudley Anderson and sister, Dorothy Boyett.
Final interment was next to her first husband in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
