Evie was born around 1891 in Mississippi. She passed away in 1943.
In 1910, Evie and her husband Hubert were living in Charleston with their daughter Clorra, aged 3[2].
In 1920, Evie, 29, was married to Alonzo Cortledge and living with him and her three sons Jesse Freeman, 9, Willie Freeman, 7, and Morgan Freeman, 5 in Leflore, Mississippi[3].
