Andersen and Anderson Family Records
Several dates were lost in a fire destroying church records as were preserved there in the year 1800.
Our history only dates back to about the year 1710, when Mads Andersen in his early age landed on the Island of Bornholm, Denmark in the Baltic Sea and started a dairy business. The last names in those days were changed when married, using part of the wife’s last name, until early in the 1800 year some were given the Andersen name back. Hans Peter Andersen, son of Claus Andersen, on coming to the United States about 1878, had his name changed to John Peter Anderson.
