Biography

1. Carrie Elizabeth Anderson’s place of birth – Internet record shows Denmark, but her father did NOT marry until after moving to the USA. This Census report appears to be in error. FRANCIS/HUNT Family Tree Birth: 02 Sep 1885 (2 Sep 1885) - Denmark Death: 25 May 1973 - Hutchinson, Kansas Marriage: 07 Jun 1905 (7 Jun 1905) - Hutchinson, Kansas Spouse: Johnnie Sherman Dennis The Internet information shows a copy of the 1900 census report showing that ALL the children were born in Denmark. (See attached document.) HOWEVER, at the suggestion of another relative (Kathleen Kay O'Hara), I re-checked the 1900 USA Census and discovered the owner of the other Internet family tree made a mistake. The 1900 USA Census correctly shows the place of birth for Carrie to be in Kansas, and the place of birth for the parents to be in Denmark. Note the second image.

2. Carrie Elizabeth Dennis’s date of death – family records show 1924.05.25, but Internet records show 1973.05.25. The Internet information is supported by: A) cemetery reference, and B) Social Security information for SSN: 511-68-5681

Opal Dennis, 97, died Oct. 25, 2007, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born Oct. 25, 1910, in Plevna, the daughter of John S. and Carrie E. Anderson Dennis. She graduated from Plevna High School in 1929, and had attended Emporia State Teachers College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1948, she was a payroll clerk for Collingwood Grain Co. retiring in 1975, after 26 years. She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Travel Club, Knife and Fork Club and the Women's Civic Center. Survivors include: four nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fay and Clayton Dennis. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Randall Turner presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, the casket will remain closed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Wesley Towers Good Samaritan Fund, in care of the funeral home.
