From the book "Pioneers on the Prairie" in a section on the churches of Marquette. Page 113 - Elim Lutheran Church -" The first services were held in the stone schoolhouse and in homes. Mr. P.M.Anderson ("Skolmastare" Anderson) conducted these services. PM Anderson & family and AFT Anderson & wife are listed as charter members in March of 1878. PM Anderson is also listed as church secretary for the years of 1878-1887.
