Edward, the son of Thomas Anderson and his second wife, Hannah Twiddall, was baptised at Langtoft with Cottam in Yorkshire on the 2nd of July 1733. [1] His father had twelve sons and a daughter from two marriages and it was unlikely that there would be any provision for Edward on the land. He went to Hull and eventually became a wealthy shipowner living in George St, Hull. [2]
He married Sarah Huntingdon, daughter of John Huntington in Hull on the 18th of March 1780, [3] but they do not appear to have had any children.
Some time about 1786 he was joined in Hull by his nephew Thomas Anderson. Edward wrote his will on the 17th of March 1806 and it was probated on the 3rd of July. His executor was his nephew, William Lovel, who was well provided for.
Edward died in 1806, a rich man with property in Sculcoates, Driffield, Hornsea and Hull. [4]
