James Anderson Jr. was born to James and Elizabeth Hume Anderson in Chester, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada on 23 July 1788 and was christened there at St. Stephen's Anglican Church on 19 October 1788. In the 1794 Canadian Census James was working as a mason in Chester. Records state that James and John Anderson paid a 100£ Marriage Bond in Halifax County on 1 January 1814 to secure James' marriage to Susanna Catherine Walker. Their marriage took place on 13 January 1814 in Chester. They produced nine children all born in Chester: William Anderson b. 1815, James Anderson b. 1816, Margaret Anderson b. 1817, Andrew Anderson b. 1818, Mary Magdalene Anderson b. 1820, Hannah Elizabeth Anderson b. 1822, Alexander Anderson b. 1823, Dorothea Anderson b. 1825, and Elizabeth Anderson b. 1827. James passed on 05 October 1828 in Chester and was buried at Saint Stephens Anglican Cemetery in Chester, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada on 07 October 1828.
