Notes

Note N57James's birthdate, place and parents names are confirmed through the Scots Origins (GRO) database.
Death date and age taken from his gravestone which agrees with the GRO database.
He was quite a man ! Married his first wife, Marion Simpson, in 1831 when he was 24, had six children, then remarried Jane Sturrock in October 1852 (at 45 - she was 17 years younger, and 5 months pregnant) and had another four children, the last when he was 59 years old. His youngest daughter was only 3 years old when he died, in 1869 aged 62.
His second marriage banns, dated 19 October 1852, say "Anderson, James, Farmer in Giffordland, and Jane Sturrock, both in this Parish, gave in their names for proclamation of Banns 16th October, and after being regularly proclaimed, were married at Giffordland 19th October 1852 by the Rev. Robert Stevenson, Minister of Dalry."
He lived in Stewarton with his first wife, then Dalry, continued at Giffordland Farm, Dalry with his second wife, then a short spell at Sandhills Farm, Coylton Parish, Beith before moving to Rigfoot Farm, Uplawmoor (Neilston Parish), where he died.

His birth is not on the LDS database.
The 1861 census finds James with second wife (listed as Jean rather than Jane) and family living at Sandhills Farm, Coylton, Beith.
