- Arvid was the youngest child of Nils Andersson and Anna Hilina Blom. A lifelong bachelor, he lived on the Rice River homestead in Leander with Nils. He continued to live with Nils after he (Nils) sold the farm to Hans and Mabel Forsline in 1920, but continued to live in a stuga on 40 acres as "reserved rights" in the sale contract (a normal Swedish custom). In April, 1925, a second cousin, Goran Algot Bixo, visited at the farm, and Arvid taught him how to drive a car. Goran wrote in a letter to his parents in Morsil, Bengt and Kerstin Bixo (from Duluth, May 25, 1925): "The youngest son [Arvid] lives at home. Sometimes in summer he works in the mines, and in winter, [when the mines] are closed, he works in the woods near the Canadian border, where some of the forest still remains." After Nils died in 1929, Arvid lived as a farmhand with his nephew Martin Johnson and his wife Emily. U.S. Census for 1940 places them in Martin Johnson's farm in Angora: Martin, age 20, Emily, age 37, and Arvid Anderson, boarder, age 47. Later in life, Arvid worked as a handyman for the village of Cook and lived in a stuga on the southeast edge of town near the railroad tracks.
