Biography

Russell was born in 1895 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the son of William Miller Anderson and Mattie U. Needham. His mother died in 1899 when he was only 4 years old. At the time of the 1900 census, he was living with his paternal grandparents in South Brunswick, NJ. His father soon remarried, and he was brought by his stepmother Thressa Snedeker. He grew up in South Amboy, NJ and in 1915, he married Beatrice Logan. They remained in the northern New Jersey area, where Russell had various jobs as a mechanic, eventually owning his own gas station. He and Beatrice had x children together. He died of lung cancer in East Orange, NJ in 1967, and his wife passed away the following year. They are buried together in the Van Liew Cemetery in New Brunswick, NJ.

Douglas Anderson (GEDmatch kit M612162) share a 15.5 cM segment on Chromosome 1 from 190,325,645 to 203,909,013. MRCAs have been tentatively identified as Benjamin Cooley (1681-1745) and Margaret Bliss.
