Catherine (or Catharine),[1] daughter of Joseph and Mary Anderson, married Gregory Caudle (born South Carolina). Her father, a Revolutionary War sergeant, was born c1750 in Virginia and died in 1806, Randolph County, Illinois. His service was in Virginia.[2][3] He and Mary married c1768; Mary died c1810, Perry Co., IL.[4]
The DAR's online database shows that five descendants of Gregory and Catherine (Anderson) Caudle have joined the DAR. The following information is from their applications:
"Gregory Caudle settled on government land and never owned it. He died in January, 1815. His wife, Catherine Caudle administered on his estate, February 3, 1815. She entered their home, the SW quareter of Section 18, Township 6-6 containing 157.9 acres in 1817. Catherine Caudle (spelled Codle in the deed) and her daughter Mary and son Gregory Caudle, Jr. deeded to her son, Sampson Anderson Caudle, the above farm Sept 5, 1818 for consideration of $320. Catherine Caudle died in July 1823. Her son, Sampson Anderson administered on her estate Aug 4, 1823.
Gregory Caudle, his wife and some small children were buried on the north side of their farm. No gravestones mark their graves."

Amos Anderson is living next to Gregory Caudle in Abbeville, S.C. in the 1800 Census and then again in Randolph County, IL. by 1824 for a lawsuit against Ferdinand Onger and again for the 1825 Census for Randolph County. He lived in the same township, Springfield, as William Coddle [Caudle], Anderson Candle [Caudle], and Harrison Colbert.~cp

A Land Record from Gregory Caudle to Sampson Caudle in 1826 states that Catherine Caudle purchased land from the United States Oct 27th, 1817 and bequeathed the land in thirds to Sampson Anderson Caudle, Gregory Caudle and Mary Caudle in 1818. ~Deed Record Book N 1815-1822 p. 158.
