John was born in 1932. He passed away in 2016. He is the son of Thomas Anderson and Ina McCart.

Obituary

John M. Anderson, 84, of Ft. Madison, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 3:15 PM at the Donnellson Health Center. He was born on February 21, 1932 in Ottumwa, IA to Thomas and Ina McCart Anderson. On January 1, 1952 he married Ruth Renfrew in Ottumwa. John was a salesman for North Central Public Service and retired after twenty seven years of service. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Lion's Club and was very active in the youth programs at the YMCA. He coached little league baseball and youth basketball. John was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and tending to his flowers. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Anderson of Ft. Madison; two daughters, Cheryl (Stanley) Ball of Montrose and Jayne (Daniel) Hill of Burlington; three sons, Patrick Anderson of Overland Park, KS, Michael (Diane) Anderson of Keokuk and Douglas (Julie) Anderson of Yukon, OK; AFS son, Stanton Jones of San Diego, CA; nineteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and two on the way; one great great grandchild; one brother, David Anderson of Ottumwa; two sisters-in-law, Betty Anderson of Ft. Madison and Juanita Anderson of Ottumwa; one brother-in-law, Mike Shewry of Ottumwa; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. Friends may call after 2 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 4:30-6:30 PM. The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Dan Stewart officiating. Following the service his body will be cremated and burial will take place at 10 AM Friday, December 2, 2016 in Soldier's Circle, Oakland Cemetery with military rites performed by the Ft. Madison Veterans Honor Guard. A memorial has been established for the Ft. Madison YMCA Youth Programs and online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com
