Biography

Went to China to represent the House of Dent &Co. In 1854 when on the Canton River in a country boat, with 2 other young men, he was suddenly attcked by pirates. Being well armed, the little party made a desperate defence, killing eight and wounding nine of their assailants, - Vide "Chambers Journal" March 1857. On Board was John Dent of Dent & Co - his employer

Notice: The Interest and Responsibility of Mr. Graham Anderson, ceased in our Firm on the 31st December, 1858. D.W. MACKENZIE & Co. Canton, 1st January, 1859. (The Hong Kong Government Gazette, January 1, 1859.)

John Graham Anderson, bill broker, resided at "The Albany" in 1869 (HK Jury List). On Sept 30 of that year, an auction of his furniture took place (from Carl Smith card). (Gwulo: Old Hong Kong / The Albany [1844-1934] [internet].)
