Presley Anderson was born about 1750 in Virginia.

• In 1810 Presley Anderson was living in Montgomery County, Kentucky, United States with his family. He was over 45 years of age. The others in the home were listed by age and sex only: Female over 45; Male 16-26; Female 16-26; Male 10-16; Male 10-16; Female under 10; Female under 10; Female under 10. Also 13 slaves.^[1]

He died before 11 Aug 1814 in Bath County, Kentucky, United States.

Will

Last Will & Testament of Presly Anderson^[2] In the name of God Amen, I Presley Anderson being sick and low in body but perfectly in my full mind and understanding to make this memorandum my last will and testament, first of all I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to the dust from whence it came. It is my request that my burial charges be first paid, then my honest debt, out of my estate.

• Item 1st. I will and bequeath unto my beloved lawful wife Elizabeth Anderson the plantation whereon I now live including the dwelling home and other houses, orchards. + Negro Stephen, Sye, Easter, Cloe, Milly and little Betty and the whole of the household and kitchen furniture except such articles as maybe hereafter excepted and all the farming tools of every description, and all the stock of every kind except such as shall hereafter be mentioned or the amount so specified, the land and all the other property at her death is to be sold and equally divided amongst my lawful representatives, the orchard and the young negroes now belonging to me she is also to have until my youngest child comes of age, then they are to be divided amongst my lawful representatives equally, not otherwise disposed of.
• Item 2nd. I will and bequeath unto my daughter Nancy Gray and her heirs a Negro girl called Patsy and her increase, and other articles of property to that amount of four hundred and four Dollars per schedule at the time you married.
• Item 3rd. I will and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Howard and her heirs two Negro girls called Matilda and Aime and their increase and other property delivered you when married per schedule amounting to six hundred and seventy-four Dollars.
• Item 4th. I will and bequeath unto my son John A S Anderson and his heirs one Negro boy called Czar and other property to the amount of four hundred Dollars and seventy-eight after giving him a credit for thirty-seven Dollars on his account per schedule, also give him my son John one other Negro boy called MOSES to be over and above his properties of my estate when divided amongst my lawful representatives.
• Item 5th. I will and bequeath unto my son Presley Anderson and his heirs one negro girl called Malinda and her increase and other articles to the amount of six hundred Dollars and sixty-eight. It being the amount he has received at the present date preschedule.
• Item 6th. I will and bequeath unto my Sally Mockbee and her heirs one Negro girl called Hannah and her increase and other articles of property to the amount of to three hundred and ninety-four Dollars which was received when you married.
• Item 7th. I will and bequeath unto William Anderson and his heirs one Negro boy called Burgis and other articles of property received at this amounting to four hundred and forty-eight Dollars per schedule.
• Item 8th. I bequeath and will unto my Daughter Polly Anderson and her heirs one Negro girl called Mariah and her increase at three hundred and sixty Dollars, one horse creature saddle and bridle to of the valued of eighty Dollars, two Cows and Calves to be worth twenty Dollars, one bed and furniture to be worth twenty-four Dollars.
• Item 9th. I will and bequeath unto my son James Anderson and his heirs one Negro called Alfred at three hundred Dollars, and one other Negro boy called Joe son of Easter, which boy last mentioned is not to be considered as any part of his legacy of my estate.
• Item 10th. I will and bequeath to my son Cuthbert Anderson and his heirs one Negro boy called John at the value of three hundred Dollars horse named Tom Jones, one saddle and bridle which horse saddle and bridle is not to be any part of my estate when divided amongst my legal representatives.
• Item 11th. I will and bequeath unto my daughter Maria Anderson and her heirs one negro girl named Ann and her increase, one horse saddle and bridle of the value of eighty Dollars, two cows and calves of the value of twenty Dollars and one bed and furniture of the value of twenty Dollars.
• Item 12th. I will and bequeath unto my daughter Julian Anderson and her heirs one Negro girl Hariet and her increase, one horse saddle and bridle of the value of eighty Dollars, two cows and calves of the value of twenty-four Dollars, one bed and furniture of the value of twenty-four dollars.
• Item 13th. I will and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza Anderson and her heirs one negro Boy called Beverly and one negro girl called Rachel, and one horse saddle and Bridle of the value of eighty Dollars, two cows and calves of twenty Dollars value, one Bed and furniture of the value of twenty-four Dollars.

I also hold Two hundred acres first choice of Pieces survey lying on licking which I wish to be sold and the amount of the sale equally divided amongst my lawful representatives. I also do hereby appoint my sons William Anderson, Cuthbert Anderson and Elizabeth Anderson my wife my lawful Executors. Signed and done in my own home and signed sealed and delivered in the presence this twenty fifth day of March 1814.

• Rec’d by Nancy Gray, my oldest daughter, one negro girl named Patsy three hundred Dollars, one mare worth sixty Dollars, two cows worth twenty Dollars, one bed & furniture worth twenty-four dollars $404.
• Rec’d by Sally Mockbee, my third daughter, one negro girl named Hannah worth three hundred dollars, one mare worth sixty Dollars, one cow worth ten Dollars, one bed and furniture worth twenty-four Dollars $394.
• Rec’d by John Anderson, my oldest son, one negro boy the name of Czar worth four hundred Dollars, one mare worth one hundred Dollars, 1 Rifle gun worth fifteen Dollars $515.55.
• Rec’d by Presley Anderson, my second son, one negro girl worth three hundred Dollars named Matilda, one gelding worth one hundred Dollars, and one worth fifty Dollars, one hundred Dollars paid James Magowen, also seventy Dollars part price of land, one bed and bedding worth twenty-four Dollars $644, 1 Rifle gun worth $24 ($668)

At a Court held for Bath County on the 12th day of August 1816 an instrument of purporting to be the last will and testament of Presley Anderson, Dec’d was produced and preview in open Court by the oaths of Robert Ewing and Augustine Choat, witnesses thereto subscribed and ordered to be established & recorded and on the motion of Elizabeth Anderson and William Anderson, two of the Executors in said will named who made oath as the law directs, and [unreadable] together with Robert Ewing and Isaac Gray their securities entered into and acknowledged bond in the penalty of ten thousand dollars. Conditioned for the due and faithful administration of said Decedent’s estate, a certificate is therefore granted said Executors for obtaining a probate in due form of law and liberty is reserved to the other executor named in said Will to join in the probate thereof whenever he may think fit. Given under my hand as clerk of the Court of said County the date above. William M. Sudduth
