Biography

Noah Peter Anderson, son of John M. Anderson and Susan Raines, was probably born on 5 October 1868 in Blackwater, Lee County, Virginia, United States.[1][2] Another record states he was born on 15 February 1868, but was derived from a collection that isn't considered to be reliable.[3]

He was enumerated on the 1870 census at one year of age, living with his parents and siblings in Jonesville Township.[4] By 1880, the family had relocated to Missouri, in Union Township, Laclede County, where they were listed on the census.[5]

Noah and Tennessee Kezar Arnhart, daughter of David William Arnhart and Rebecca M. King, applied for a marriage license on 17 May 1890 in Cassville, Barry County, Missouri. They were married before a Justice of the Peace the next day on the 18th in Seligman.[6]

They may have had at least eight children,[7] of whom seven are known:

  1. Bessie Susan Anderson (1891 - 1948)
  2. Effie Maude Anderson (1893 - 1956)
  3. Clarence E. Anderson (1895 – 1895)
  4. Rova M. Anderson (1897 - 1897)
  5. Cleo Dewey Anderson (1898 - 1990)
  6. Ruby R. Anderson (1905 - 1990)
  7. Lucy Helen Anderson (1909 - 1997)

The family hasn't yet been found on the 1900 census.[8] According to the 1910 and 1920 censuses, they lived on a farm at Sugar Creek in Barry County, Missouri.[9][10]

Noah was widowed in 1929, when Tennessee died of stomach cancer.[2][11] His 22-year-old daughter, Ruby, lived with him during the 1930 census at their Sugar Creek farm.[12] They weren't found on the 1940 census.

Noah died at age 78 of pneumonia, on 20 July 1947 at Seligman in Barry County.[2] He was buried at Seligman Cemetery.[13]
