Biography

Bertram or Bartram Anderson, was a younger son of mayor Bertram Anderson and Alice Carr, and is named in his father's will.[1] He died 29 August 1606 and was buried in St. Nicholas, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.[2] He married Jane Craster or Craister who died 11 April 1600, daughter of Edmund and Alice (Mitford) Craster.[3][1] His second wife, Annes, died 18 August 1621. He had children, Henry and Francis Anderson.[4]

His tombstone in Newcastle Cathedral reads;

"Bartram Anderson The Elder Marchant Adventvrer And Iane And Annes his two Wyifes He Depted The 29 of Avgvst 1606 Iane Depted the 11 of Apriil 1600 Annes Depted the 18 of Avgvst 1621 And ther Children Henry And Francis

George Anderson Esqre. Died August 18th 1798 Aged 72 Years."
