Hello Clay,

What is the source for Robert and Elizabeth Clough Anderson being the parents of Mary, who married first John Anderson and then Elkanah Talley (per the 1805 Virginia Argus news clipping on Mary's profile page? Any help on Mary's maiden name would be appreciated.

Can someone check the info on the first wife, Priscilla Briscoe. Her date of death is 1796. Robert married his second wife, Elizabeth Clough, in1739.

Hi, I am a descendant of these Andersons and am working my way through the first and second generation profiles to update and expand them. I haven't gotten to Robert III yet but intend to do. His line is the most famous among this family. All the family trees I have looked at do not contain any reference to a marriage to Priscilla Briscoe at all, I think that is an error and not sure where it could have come from. His only marriage to my knowledge was to Elizabeth Clough. Pat Anderson's great site on Rootsweb has a good history of this line, and only one marriage for Robert. https://homepages.rootsweb.com/~anderson/va/trees/robert1.html After I finish Robert III's father and uncles, I'll turn to this one and see if I can repair it.

Apologies, looks like Allison added the photo, not Lynn. Allison, are you a descendant? I'm trying to link up with as many of the descendants of the Hanover County Andersons as possible.

Lynn, thanks for adding the photo of Robert's grave. It is on the old Goldmine Plantation property just south of the South Anna River in southwestern Hanover County. I have not made it down there yet but hope to go see it soon. There is some misinformation on the location of the Goldmine Plantation generated by William P. Anderson's 1936 book that included an erroneous attribution of a 727 acre grant to Robert's father as the Goldmine property - it is not, that property is further east between Meachump's and Crump's creeks. You have the location of the Goldmine Plantation correct, near Rockville. The reference in the above bio to the 400 acres on Anderson's Creek is also probably not the Goldmine Plantation - there is no Anderson's Creek near the location of the plantation (it is on Goldmine Creek, not surprisingly), and that property is almost certainly in Louisa County. I have a lot of info on this family and at some point will go into the site and provide some edits and additions.
