Peter Stebbins Craig wrote in Swedish Colonial News, Vol. 1, no. 1, Spring 1990, pp. 1-2, in an article titled "Forefathers: Another 350th Anniversary," that Mans Andersson arrived in Fort Christina (Wilmington, Del.) on the 2nd voyage of the Kalmar Nyckel in 1640 with his (name unknown) wife and daughter Brita, who grew up to marry Gustaf Gustafsson and established the Justis/Justice family.
Brita Månsdotter m. 1654 to Johan Gustafsson, d. 1723 New Castle
Ingeborg Månsdotter, b.a. 1647, m. 1. Hendrick Hendricksson, m. 2. Cornelius Clements.
Christopher Månsson, b.a. 1652, (later "Christopher Mounts or Christopher Anderson.)
Lars Månsson/Lawrence Mounts, b.a. 1660, died by 2 August 1697
Charles Månsson, (later Charles Anderson).
Maria Månsdotter 1676-aft 1715 m. Matthias Matthiason, 3 kids, m.2 Otto Othoson (no kids)
"In 1661, Måns Andersson, his wife and six children were recorded as having immigrated to Maryland, and on 25 April 1662, a plantation was surveyed for him near the mouth of the Elk River on Sassafras Neck in Baltimore (now Cecil) County. This 150-acre plantation was named "Mountsfield."[2]
If anyone in the NNS project could weigh in, LNAB and POB for daughter Andersson-1428 are incorrect & 5 merges are held up. Last year, I raised the issue of how a Swedish born girl in this era would be a -dotter not a -sson, but there's a confusion about patronymics I couldn't dispel. See comments on Mansdotter-137. Ultimately LNAB should be Månsdotter.
I added the proper templates, bio links and GFR Unconnected cat for both ends of this partial tree, so I am going to go ahead and disconnect these obviously false parents.
It seems that there is not any direct lineal relationship, since the 1700s Mans was in Sweden, and this 1600s Mans was in New Netherland. so perhaps the later Mans is only a distant cousin, if at all related.
Ron, you should look at the dates of Andersson-1906, who you have listed as being born before his parents. I think that the people that you list as his parents may be the parents to someone that I am adding but the death date is off for Sigrid's father is off by a few year by the information that I have. What are your Source documents?
Cheers, Liz
