Of Grove Lake township, of whom this sketch is written, is a native of Sweden, and was born in 1848. He is the son of Andrew and Christina (Anderson) Anderson. They were successful farmers in Sweden. The father died in 1883. The mother is still living in the land of her nativity. Their family consisted of nine children, seven of whom are now living -- Hannah, Andrew P, Maria, Aaron and Hattie (twins), Hulda and Emma. Those deceased are August and Annestine. The parents were faithful members of the Luthern Church.
Our subject was brought up on a farm, remaining in the land of his birth until 1872, when he came to America, stopping in Washington county Minnesota. He worked at farm labor for five years and a half, near Newport, then came to Pope county and settled where he still lives, on section 24, Grove Lake township. At first he purchased 200 acres of land, to which he has since added forty acres more. He is a successful grower of grain, horses and cattle, and is one of the leading farmers of the eastern part of the county.
Mr. Anderson was married in 1877 to Miss Matilda Kraft, a daughter of Andrew and Bessie (Peterson( Kraft, who were natives of Sweden, where they were engaged in farm pursuits. In 1873 they came to America settling in Carver county, Minnesota, where they purchased an eighty-acre farm. The father died in 1877; the mother is still living in Carver county, where they first settled. They had a family of seven children - Christena, Andrew, Carl, Caroline, Matilda, August and John.
Mr. and Mrs. Anderson have four children - Elmer, Emma, Minnie and George. Mr. Anderson is a republican in his political belief, and religiously is inclined to the Luthern Church, which he and the family attend regularly. He has held the office of supervisor, and is one of Pope county's most highly respected citizens.

Andrew Peter Anderson - Obituary as it appeared in the Glenwood Herald, December 3, 1942, follows:
Andrew Peter Anderson, old and respected pioneer settler in Grove Lake township, Pope county, passed away at the Glenwood Hospital, Sunday November 22, where he had been since November 2. The cause of his death was the infirmities of old age. He was at the time of his death 94 years, 3 months and two days old.
Deceased was born on August 21, 1848, near Gotenborg, Sweden. In 1872 he came to America and settled in Newport, Minnesota, where he was engaged in farming. While here he was married November 3, 1877, to Matilda Kraft.
On November 27th of that same year he came to Grove Lake and settled on a farm where he has resided since. During the past years he has lived with his son Floyd Anderson who resides on the home farm.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Hattie Johnson of Ashland, Wis. He is also survived by the following children: Elmer, George and Floyd of Grove Lake; Emma of San Diego, California; Minnie and Cecil of Lorado, Texas and by ;12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted in the home at 1:30 on Friday, November 17, and at Grove Lake Church at 2:00 o'clock by Rev. Clark of Glenwood. The pallbearers were: Will Riley, Ira Cook, Nels Johnson, Francis Harmon, Leonard Grady and George King. Interment was made in the Grove Lake cemetery.
Those from a distance who attended were Mr. and Mrs. George Grohseth of Kirkhaven and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Anderson of Sunburg.
Mr. Anderson was the leader in the community where he lived. He was the president of the Grove Lake Creamery board since its organization except the first year, when he was vice-president. He has also for a number of terms been a member of the local school board, and he was one of the organizers of the Cooperative Store of Grove Lake and a member of its board from the beginning.
The Herald joins in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
