Karl Anton Olsson was born on January 2, 1907 at torpet Rörmossen under Tolycke in Frillesås parish, Halland, Sweden. He was born out of wedlock to Anna Brita Olofsdotter.[1] She was divorced from a Johan August Andersson on March 15, 1905. She lived with her son John Ivar Johansson b. 1898, daughter Valborg Alfrida b. 1904 and son Karl Anton b. 1907 at the same place as Anton Andersson[2], so it is possible that he may be their father even if he wasn't listed as such in the parish birth records.
Anton Andersson actually departed for America before their mother's death. He left on April 29, 1910; Anna Brita passed away on August 27, 1911.
Both Anton and Alfrida have last name Olsson/Olsdotter in the next parish book 1911-1935. They are listed as Anna Brita Olofsdotter's children, still living in Tolycke. Their older half brother Johan Ivar moves to Veddige in 1913, and Anton and Alfrida follow him in 1918. It's not noted in which families they are raised until 1918.[3]
"Carl Anton" (aka Karl Anton Olsson) is listed as foster son in Källmossen, Syllinge 2, Veddige parish from 1918 until he marries Berta Linnéa Johansson (1909-)on February 23, 1929.[4] They live in Björkholm in Veddige 1929-1931.[5]
We find him with his wife and three children Karl Erik Alvar b. 1929, Lillian Linnéa b. 1934 and Tage Ove Lennart b. 1938 in Björkhaga in the 1940 census. There are no records available 1932-1939, and there is a five year gap between their first and second child but as they are noted as småbrukare (small scale farmers) of their property of 3,5 hektar it's hard to believe that Carl Anton would have gone to America during this time.[6][7]
Carl August passed away on March 25, 1999 in Veddige parish, Halland, Sweden.[8]
Special thank yous for all the help provided to move this profile forward
His family lived in Frillesås, Halland, Sweden from about 1877-1880.
His sister, Alfrida Antonsdotter, was born 01 May 1904 in Vålberg, Värmland, Sweden
At some time between 1904 and 1907, the family moved to Veddige, Halland, Sweden
Carl Anton was born on 2 Jan 1907 as the 2nd child of Anton Andersson and Anna Britta (maiden surname not known). [9]
Carl Anton's mother, Anna Britta, who is thought to have been born abt. 1877 in Frillesås, Halland, Sweden, died in 1911 in Veddige, Halland, Sweden. I have not found substantiating parish records.
Anton Andersson, his father, abandoned both of his children, Carl Anton and Alfrida Antonsdotter in 1911. As orphans, they were taken into separate homes to be raised. (I am not sure if they were actually "adopted".)
Carl Anton married after 1923.
On 3 Sep 1929, a son Alvar Carlsson was born.
40 years later, on 4 Dec 1950, his birth father, Anton Andersson left Yakima Washington, USA and returned to Sweden, arriving unannounced at Carl Anton's home. In 1958, his father, Anton Andersson, died.
I truly appreciate the Swedish help I got on this. I could never have gotten this on my own. As this relates to extended family of my relatives in Veddige, Sweden, I must wait for their input before I do any more. I need their collaboration.
When this man's mother, Anna Britta (1877-1911) died, his father, Anton Andersson abandoned Carl Anton and his sister Frida, disappearing from family for 40 years, returning from the USA to Sweden, arriving at the home of the Carl Anton's (adoptive or foster ???) family with no explanation. I am trying to find him in the USA. This is a cousin's great grandfather. I am attempting to find information for her.
His father was supposed to have worked on a fruit farm or in the fruit market business on the West Coast and had some form of a Yakima, Washington bank account on the West Coast. [10]
DID CARL ANTON EVER GO TO USA in 1931? There was a Carl Anton Anderson found on a NY Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 showing a birth date of abt 1907, born in Kyrkhult, Sweden age 24, painter left Gothenburg, Sweden, arrivd NY, NY on 6 Apr 1931 on ship Drottningholm with an immigration Visa, Passprot Visa or reentry permit # 1115Q obtained in Goteborg on 27 Mar 1931 showing last city residence as Kyrkhult ... but I have no idea if it is THIS Carl Anton Anderson.
My inability to speak or read Swedish and limited ability to understand each other fully, I have not been able to get anywhere. When and if I ever sign up for ArkivDigital I might at least get household exams that could put additional dates, names, and events in place. Any help would be appreciated.
I've seen residence possibilities of Källstorp, Halland, Sweden and Sandlid, Östergötland, Sweden associated to his name but have no idea of it is THIS Carl Anton. I did not keep the sources.
