In 1861 he was living in Torphichen[1] becoming a miner like his father in 1871[2]
On 11 June 1874 he left Greenock, Scotland to travel to New Zealand on the ship Parsee[3] arriving on 4 September 1874 with his sisters Catherine, Mary, Sarah and Marion. He was listed as a miner.
He married Jane McDonald on 29 November 1888[4] in Saint Bathans, Otago.
He has one son with Jane named Robert Andrews before he died at Naesby[5] on 12 January 1890.
He was buried at Blackstone Hill Cemetery[6][7] in the McDonald, Andrews family grave.
