DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:
DAR is not considered a reliable source, so the following may be incorrect, but I was wondering if you could add the sources that Ancestry cited (I'm not a member, so I hit a pay wall when I click the links you have in the profile).
The DAR record for Thomas Andrews who married Elizabeth Pitts, #A002735, says he was born abt. 1747, Essex County; died 7 February 1815, Essex County, Virginia. It lists just one child - son Robert who married Mary Lindsay O'Neale (note that only children with descendants who joined the DAR based on Thomas's service are listed in DAR records for the patriot ancestor).
His service is listed as
3RD TROOP OF VA. LIGHT DRAGOONS,
1ST REGT. COL. THEODRICK BLAND.
citing "BOOGHER, GLEANINGS OF VA HIST, PP 188-189"
I think that the Henry Lee (captain of the VA Light Dragoons) was Lee-526 - that profile says "1st Continental Light Dragoons", it also mentions his "cousin Theodorick Brand" (Bland was meant, not Brand):
"In 1776, he was promoted to captain of a Virginia dragoon detachment, which was attached to the 1st Continental Light Dragoons; and, in 1778, he was promoted to major and given the command of a small irregular corps, with which he won a great reputation as a leader of light troops..
In 1776, on the nomination of Patrick Henry, Lee was appointed captain of cavalry in his cousin Theodorick Brand's Virginia regiment. The following year that regiment joined the Continental Army."
... "His great-grandmother Mary Bland was a great-aunt of President Thomas Jefferson and he descended once from King John of England, twice from King Edward I of England, once from King Jean de Brienne of Jerusalem, twice from King Edward III of England and once from King Pedro I of Castile."
