Biography

Elisha Andrews, Jr born in 1730, son of Elisha & Ruth (Loveland) Andrews, married Jerusha Keeney, daug of Alexander Keeney of Orford society in East Hartford ... " lived in Bolton, on "Birch mountain" eleven miles east of Hartford and four miles north of the old home of Stephen, the settler, at Eastbury, now called East Glastonbury."^[1]

Elisha Andrews, Jr., who enlisted from Norwich, Conn., December 28, 1776, in the First Troop Connecticut Light Dragoons (Colonel Sheldon's), served mostly on east side of Hudson river; in spring of 1777, joined Washington's army in New Jersey, and fought at Germantown; in summer of 1778 was on the Hudson river, and in fall formed a part of General Charles Scott's light corps on the lines of Winchester; guarded same ground, with infantry support, to end of war; wintered generally in Connecticut, but in 1780-81 were sent on a foraging expedition to Western Massachusetts; discharged June, 1783. ^[2]
