John Arthur Andrews was born on October 18, 1850 in Shoreditch, Middlesex, England and christened on 17 November 1850 at Saint Leonards, Shoreditch, Middlesex, England^[1], the son of John Andrews and Elizabeth Hart and brother of Charlotte Andrews, Albert Andrews, Elizabeth Andrews, William Andrews, George Andrews and Edward Andrews.

He married Emily Anne Hathaway on 3 July 1879 at Clewes Cottage, Saint Peters, New South Wales, Australia^[2][3], and they were the parents of Louisa Adelaide Andrews, Emily Jane Andrews, William John Henry Andrews, Mary Isabel Andrews, Evelyn Andrews, John Francis Charles Andrews, Ettie (Andrews) Carter, Edward Hart Andrews and Emily Mary Andrews. They lived at Seven Hills, New South Wales, Australia when married.

John died on 5 April 1917 in Kellyville, New South Wales, Australia^[4][5].
