Biography

Mary E. Andrews was born on July 17, 1815 possibly in Darlington County, South Carolina to Thomas Andrews and Zilphia Bartlett. She married Benjamin Byrd(possibly of Johnson County, North Carolina) about 1833 possibly in Dale County, Alabama. She died March 4, 1888 possibly in Dale County, Alabama. She was originally buried in the Byrd cemetery on what is now Fort Rucker Army Reservation in Dale County, Alabama. At the time of the reservation was established most cemetery graves on the Army property were moved elsewhere. She is now buried at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Cemetery with her husband Benjamin. {1,2,3}

DAR records have a note on the file of Richard Bird - Richard R. Byrd Jr (abt.1752-1818) - grandfather of "Benjamin" (DAR names him "Burtis"), saying his wife Mary was an Anderson, not an Andrews. See Patriot Ancestor #A010342 (1760-1818).

One of the descendant records (which haven't been reviewed, so are less reliable than the main entries, which have) says that Mary Anderson was born 17 June 1816, SC; died Dale County, Alabama on 4 March 1889 (married 1833) - see this descendant record & also this one.
