Biography

Alfred James Andrews was baptised on 24 August 1851 in Bristol, (parish) St Philip and Jacob by parents John and Mary. ^[1]

On 29 July 1851 Alfred James, from the parish of St Philips, Bristol joined the Navy as a 'Boy 2nd Class' for a period of 10 years. As he was under age his father, John had to sign. ^[2]

In 1872 Alfred James Andrews and Ellen Reaford married in Bristol. ^[3]

In 1881 Alfred and Ellen were living in Bristol St Philip with 3 children. Alfred was a Railway Signalman. ^[4] In 1891 they had 5 children. ^[5]
