Zachariah Angevine was born in New Rochelle to immigrant Huguenot parents who were among the first settlers of New Rochelle. A 1710 census of New Rochelle lists both Zachariah, 6 years old, and his father, also known as Zachariah, 46 years old. The will of the elder Zachariah, attests that he had a son named Zachariah, to whom he leaves "John, one negro man."
Records of the town of New Rochelle show multiple land transactions associated with the name Zachariah Angevine (either as purchaser or witness), at least some of which (the ones occurring when this Zachariah Angevine was still a child) must be associated with the elder, immigrant Zachariah, father to this Zachariah. Others, in 1738, could either be the elder Zachariah or by this one.
