Abraham Annis was born at Newbury, Massachusetts on August 18, 1668, son of Charles/Curmac and Sarah (Chase) Annis. [1][2]
Abraham is named second, after his brother Joseph, in the will of Charles Annis of Newbury, written in May, 1706 and proved in February, 1718.[3]
He was a husbandman and weaver at Newbury until 1736, when he sold his home and land.
He purchased land in Haverhill at this time. When the state boundaries were drawn, his farm became located in part of Salem, New Hampshire. [1]

His death or burial is not recorded in the Newbury VRs. Findagrave.com does have a profile for him, but has no information about his burial place or date. No probate file found for him on Ancestry's New Hampshire Wills & Probate index 1643-1982, however there may be a file for him (found an index entry elsewhere: Annes, Abraham IX:679 but unable to locate the record online). No probate file found for him in Massachusetts, Wills and Probate Records, 1635-1991.
Note : re birth: Unnamed son of Curmac/Charles Annis and Sarah Chase born Aug. 18, 1668, at Newbury
Note: his wife Hannah is speculated to be Hannah Osgood, born at Andover on Oct. 19, 1668, daughter of Christopher and Hannah. However, in Christopher Osgood's will, he left bequests to daughter Hannah Carleton (wife of John, married 1688 See: Case 20179: p. 1- 6: Essex County, MA: Probate File Papers, 1638-1881
Abraham Annis; b. 18 Aug 1668 son of Curmac or Charles Annis[13] Newbury, Essex County in the Mass. Bay Colony; m. Hannah Osgood, daughter of Christopher Osgood and Hannah Belknap, probably by 1694 in or near Newbury;.[14] m. Hannah Badger, daughter of Giles Badger and Hannah Swett, 1692; m. Hannah Osgood, daughter of Christopher Osgood and Hannah Belknap, 1693; d. 1738 at Salem, New Hampshire or 1736 Haverhill, Essex, Mass. Abraham spent all but the last year of his life at Newbury, and was a weaver, husbandman and farmer. He served periods of military duty during the Queen Anne's War, and is listed on the muster rolls of Captain Thomas Noyes in 1708-1709. On May 13, 1718 the town of Newbury gave him liberty to use the flats near Hall's Rock on condition one salmon a year be given to the new pastor of the town. Hall's Rock is now East Haverhill, Massachusetts on the Merrimack River. Abraham sold his property at Newbury in 1737 and purchased 100 acres at Haverhill, Massachusetts (the part now in Salem, New Hampshire). He probably had followed his son Abraham jr. there, and died in the following year.
Abraham Annis was born in Newbury, Essex County in the Mass. Bay Colony on 18 August 1668, the son of Curmac or Charles Annis.[15]
He was named in his father's will, proved Feb 15, 1717/18, given "the land bought of Mr. Dole on which he [Abraham] now dwells" and the other half of the Salisbury marshland that his Curmack held.[16]
Merging Note
Apparently, Torrey is sometimes wrong! In the case of Abraham Annis, Torrey speculated (note the question mark) that he married Hannah Osgood in 1694[17]. Anyone that has reviewed this union has apparently concluded that the wife of Abraham Annis had to be Osgood-15. However, the Andover records tell a different story (see profile for Osgood-15 for references and dates) which make clear that Hannah Osgood married John Carleton and was still listed as Carleton's wife at the time of her death in 1733. The other candidate for the wife of Abraham Annis is Hannah Badger, based on several online family trees. I was not able to find any records to substantiate this union. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Abraham by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Abraham:
