Margaret A. “Peggy” Widdall, 86 of York died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Oak Leaf Manor-North in Landisville. She was the wife of the late Kenneth R. Widdall. They were married 60 years prior to his death in 2010.
Peggy was born in Kingston, Luzerne County on February 22, 1929 a daughter of the late Herbert V. and Beatrice S. (Aubrey) Anthony.
She retired as an insurance adjuster for Continental Insurance Company and formerly was employed at Hochschild-Kohn. Peggy was a 1950 graduate of Wilkes College and received a Bachelor’s Degree from York College. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and volunteered with the American Red Cross and the Literacy Council. She loved gardening and spending time with her family.
Peggy is survived by 4 sons, Kenneth A. Widdall of Garden Grove, California, G. Scott Widdall of Lancaster, Jeffrey B. Widdall of York, Russell Widdall of Philadelphia; a daughter, Dr. Sandra M. Widdall of Upton, Mass; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and 1 great - great grandchild. Peggy was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. John Anthony and a sister, Beatrice Strunk
A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service 1111 E. Market Street York. Officiating will be the Rev. Mary Anne Kingsboro and the Rev. Timothy George. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. A visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.
