Biography

John was born in 1220. John is the child of Iorwerth ap Adam. Our journey began with two pedigrees which said the father of Adam was actually named Cynhaethwy[ and a third pedigree which said Peter fitz Herbert had a brother named Cynhaethwy, and that man had a son named Adam. Down to this point in the pedigree, all men bore common English names and married English/Norman ladies but suddenly we encounter a purely Welsh name. Further research led us to the family of Adam Gwent. Among his sons were Adam Fychan and Cynhaethwy; while his pedigree did not chart the descendants of Cynhaethwy, it does identify a son of Adam Fychan who is styled "Lord of Beachley".

Possible wife Angharad (Verch Dafydd) BURCHILL, born about 1210 - Llanfair Cilgedin, Monmouthshire, Wales, deceased - Wales

Robert Keere (b.1270e) was the son of Adam de Keyrlun baptised 1240e. Adam was a forge proprietor in the Forest of Dean.

You will see that there is a lot of supposition in the early records and relationships but by consulting wills and working out the different family connections we feel fairly confident in our research. One reason for the difficulty was that the eariest parish registers were eaten by rats so not all entries are legible.

Robert Keere of Tidenham c.1260/70 and by birth to Adam DeKeyrlun c.1220 Who was a son of Adam Gwent c.1190.
