Charles Applegate was buried in Applegate Pioneer Cemetery, Yoncalla, Oregon.
Charles was born January 24, 1806 at Henry County, Kentucky to Rachael Lindsay and Daniel Wiggins Applegate.[1]
Charles Applegate and Malinda Miller were married August 4, 1829 at Cole, Missouri.[2]
In 1830 Charles was living near Jeffersonville, Clark, Indiana.[3]
In 1850 Charles and Malinda and 13 children were farming near Benton in Oregon Territory.[4]
In 1860, Charles and family are shown farming near Locust Grove PO, District 5, Umpqua, Oregon.[5]
Charles was listed in the 1870 Census as farming near Yoncalla. In addition to wife Malinda, he had 8 children living with him: Lucy (39), Irene (38), Jane (32), Lisbon (30), Thomas (23), Fanny (20), George (18) and Milton (16). Also resident was 32 year old F M Pillar, hired as a farm labourer.[6]
Charles Applegate was a farmer and a stock raiser for most of his life. He moved to Oregon in 1843 and died on August 9, 1879 at Oregon.[7] He was buried at Applegate Pioneer Cemetery in Yoncalla, Douglas, Oregon.[8]
