Biography

John James was born to Ebenezer Applegate [1] and his wife, Sarah Byrd. Her siblings are Apollo, Salem, Angeline (Dunham, Robbins), Joseph B, Ebenezer, Moses, Sarah (Robinson), Amanda (James), and Helen (Smalley, Brown) [2].

John J was a farmer (1850, 1860).

He was married 1853 December 24th near Toms River to Mary Wilbur [3]. Their children are Francis A, James Gardiner [4], and Joseph C.

Residence:

1850, Dover Township, Ocean County, New Jersey [5].
1860, Jackson Mills PO, Jackson Township, Ocean County, New Jersey [6].

John's memorial in the Cedar Grove Cemetery is inscribed:
