Elizabeth Applegate was born c.1748 in Monmouth County, New Jersey to parents as yet unknown #N1.
Research Notes
Researching William Applegate and Hannah Potter as possible parents for this Elizabeth (Applegate) Sutton. I have stronger DNA matches to this line. All of the Applegate family, including the Benjamin Applegate mentioned below, belonged to the same common ancestor.
note one: PLEASE NOTE: This is not the Elizabeth Applegate who was the daughter of Benjamin Applegate, Jr. (1725-1823) and Rebecca Wall (1730-1781). That Elizabeth (b. about 1759-1839) married William Ketchum and John Imlay Holcraft and had children by both. I have made a thorough search and this is definitely not the Applegate-Wall daughter. There's just nothing more on this woman. Scott-8685 20:03, 9 April 2014 (EDT) Research update: John Imlay/Emlay did not have Holcraft in his name. John Imlay and Elizabeth (Applegate) Ketchum, never had children. They were married between 1810-1820 when Elizabeth would have been in her 60's. She had one son with William Ketchum and was the guardian of her son's small children after her son's death. Shonda Feather.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
Applegate-2947 and Applegate-629 do not represent the same person because: Elizabeth Applegate [Applegate-2947], daughter of Benjamin Applegate and Rebecca Wall, married William Ketchum and John Imlay.
Elizabeth Applegate [Applegate-629], who married Cornelius Sutton, was NOT the daughter of Benjamin Applegate and Rebecca Wall.
Please do not merge Applegate-2947 and Applegate-629. Elizabeth Applegate-2947, daughter of Benjamin and Rebecca (Wall) Applegate was not the same Elizabeth Applegate that was married to Cornelius Sutton. Applegate-2947 should also be removed as a wife of Cornelius Sutton.
Applegate-807 and Applegate-629 appear to represent the same person because: These are definitely the same person. I requested this merge 2 years ago and it seems to have been overlooked. They are the same person who was the second wife of Cornelius Sutton. He had only 2 wives.
Please merge with Applegate-629. They are definitely the same woman. He had only 2 wives and she was the second. What are the places you refer to? The only places I see on the 807 profile are New Jersey (629 has more specifically Monmouth County, New Jersey.) Middlesex, New Jersey on 27 Apr 1768 for the marriage (same on both). And her death in Middlesex, New Jersey where 807 has no death place. You have a death date of 1768 and the other says before 1797 as there is no source for either. The only known fact is that she died before his migration to Virginia in 1797. Please do the merge. It has now been over 2 years.
Applegate-321 and Applegate-807 are not ready to be merged because: I'd want to confirm that these are definitely the same individual since the only matching piece so far is the name.
Elizabeth Applegate [Applegate-629], who married Cornelius Sutton, was NOT the daughter of Benjamin Applegate and Rebecca Wall.
