RESEARCH NOTES Her parents are not Archer-2016 and Brown-39674 as their daughter Frances Ann Archer married Matthew Tomalin in 1830 in Hertforshire and died in 1881 in Essex.
Marriage date is an estimate based of the date of birth of her first child.
From 1845 to 1853 they were living in Cork as their four children were all born there.
In 1861 she was living on St Helier Jersey with her husband and two children William age 14 and Sarah age 8 both born in Ireland. Her age was recorded as 42. Her place of birth was listed as England. They were living at New Gate Street.
She came out to the Swan River colony on the vessel "Merchantman" with her husband and three children. It sailed from Portland on 12th October 1862 to Swan River via Bermuda setting a record time for the Portland to Bermuda leg and arrived in the colony on 14th February 1863 carrying 147 passengers and 192 convicts. Of the passengers there were 50 pensioner guards, 35 wives, 26 sons and 28 daughters. Her husband was a Pensioner Guard.
Her will was dated 12/9/1872.
DEATH NOTICE SMITH— At Geraldton, on March 20, Frances, widow of the late Color-Sergeant Smith, aged 73 years.
Her obituary states she was age 73. I think this is wrong as it does not match the 1861 census data and would make her much older than her husband. Her age was most likely 63.
