Ann Archer married Robert Mathews, brother-in-law of Robert Renick who was massacred by the Indians. Robert Mathews was a prominent man in both church and community. He and his wife settled near Natural Bridge, Virginia. They had four daughters and seven sons.
His wife was Ann Archer, the daughter of Sampson Archer, a fellow emigrant. His sister, Betsy, was the wife of Robert Renick. His children were John, Joshua, Richard, Sampson, George. Archer, William, Jane, Anna, Rachel and Elizabeth. “Border Warfare” says that five of the seven sons were at Braddock’s defeat, which statement may be set down as not entirely correct, to say the least. [1]
Their son Archer moved to Greenbrier prior to 1778. He became the first magistrate in the county.[2]
[3] - Sampson Archer, born in County Tyrone, Ireland, married Rebeckah Thompson, a sister of General William Thompson of Pennsylvania. About 1740, after a stop in Pennsylvania, Sampson Archer bought several tracts of land in Augusta County, Virginia. Colonial Records state his home was near Gilmore's Spring, now Gilmore's Mills, in Rockbridge County, near the confluence of Cedar Creek and James River.
Apparently the source for her name as "Elizabeth "Betsy" Anne" is the Sons of the American Revolution, which are membership submissions.[4]

Are these two sisters getting confused with each other in some sources? Added a Research Notes, so we can add sources as we find them (and not have to "re-invent the wheel") Thanks! Thanks!
I will be proposing a merge of Ann Archer-258, who is also a duplicate of these two women
