Edward Archer was born 1774 to Edward Archer, Sr. and Mary Walthall in Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Col Edward Archer's first wife was [Bolling-239| Mary Bolling (Polly)]], They were married in 1797[1][2], she died in 1798, daughter of John B. Bolling and Mary Martha Jefferson. They had one son:

His second wife was Ann Walthall (1781 - 1839). They were married 29 Aug 1799;[3]

Edward Archer (10 Jan. 1774 -1823), who inherited land on the north side of Second Branch Road, married 1st Mary Jefferson Bolling in Chesterfield County 27 May 1797, and 2nd, Ann Walthall 29 Aug. 1799. During his first brief marriage he had one child, and during his 2nd, he had 5. He paid taxes in Chesterfield County in 1800. Archer, captain in the 23rd Regiment during the War of 1812, left a will in Chesterfield County (will dated 11 Jan. 1822 and proved 10 Nov. 1823), as did Ann (will dated 11 Oct. 1833 and proved 17 Oct. 1839).
