Anna Marie Arentz AKA Annie was the second Australian born child of immigrants Carl Philipp Ludwig Arentz (known as Philipp) and his wife Catherine Philippine Arentz 9known by either Catherine or Philippine). They emigrated from Weisel in the Rheinland Palatinate in Germany arriving in Australia 1856. Philipp was a Vinedresser and the family including 6 children came as assisted immigrants to work on the vineyard "Coolangatta" established by Alexander Berry in the Shoalhaven, NSW Australia.

The entry regarding her birth in the Great Australian Bight provides an amazing insight into the family's trip to Australia, and also the family structure. Because the birth was registered in the Shoalhaven at a later date, we have always thought she was the second child born in Australia. You have also provided an insight into her marriage into the Müller family - I have yet to check whether or not this new information (husband's given names) is the same marriage as that of Annie Arentz to Frederick Muller in Sydney in 1850. I hope it is so, as it will confirm a family relationship between the Arentz family and a Muller family that I know - and coincidentally, to you.
