Henry Armistead, the son of Col. John Armistead and Judith Bowles Robinson, was born about 1672, Hesse, Gloucester County, Virginia. He died in Middlesex, Virginia. Henry married Martha Burwell the daughter of Hon. Maj. Lewis Burwell and Abigail Smith. Martha died before Henry, as he is mentioned as a widower in the December 1748 paperwork of his estate.
"Henry Armistead, late of Carolina County in Virginia Colony beyond seas, Esq., deceased, a widower. Administration to December 1748 to Edward Hunt, attorney of William Armistead, Esq., son of the defunct, now residing in Virginia. P. C. C. "[1][2]

Martha [Burwell], baptized 16 Nov 1685, died after Dec 1710, who aroused such passion in Governor Francis Nicholson that his behavior resulted in his recall, married Henry Armistead, justice of Gloucester County 1714-26, member of the House of Burgesses from Gloucester 1728-34, County Lieutenant of Caroline County, 9 Aug 1733, who died after 13 Jun 1746.
